We are with you every step of the way

Your journey typically begins with a referral from your dentist, doctor, or specialist. Once we receive the referral and any required radiographs, our administration team will contact you to arrange your first consultation with Dr Sophia Richardson.
Before this appointment, you’ll be asked to complete an online registration form, which will be sent to you via email and SMS.
Dr Sophia Richardson is often booked out in advance, so we suggest contacting us for an appointment sooner rather than later.

During your initial consultation, Dr Sophia Richardson will discuss your concerns and assess your condition. This includes a physical examination. She will then recommend the most suitable treatment options, with pictures to explain procedures.
If your treatment involves more complex surgery (such as orthognathic or implant procedures), an additional appointment may be needed for planning, which can include imaging, intra-oral scans, and clinical photographs. She will then run through a presentation of your options and answer any questions you might have.

After your consultation, you’ll meet with Dr Sophia Richardson’s dedicated patient coordinator, who will guide you through the next steps. These may include:
Booking appointments (in rooms or in hospital)
Organising surgical fee estimates
Assisting with Medicare or private health insurance queries
Coordinating with hospitals and anaesthetists as needed
If your treatment requires collaboration with other specialists, such as your orthodontist, this will also be part of the planning process.

If surgery is recommended, your patient coordinator will finalise the arrangements with you. This includes confirming the surgical date, providing payment details, and ensuring all hospital and anaesthetic information is shared with you in advance.
All procedures are prepaid prior to surgery. While you’ll claim directly through your private health insurance, our team will process any eligible Medicare claims on your behalf.

Following your procedure, Dr Sophia Richardson’s nurse will check in to ensure you’re recovering well. For major procedures, such as orthognathic surgery, follow-up appointments will be scheduled over time to monitor your progress.
Our administration team is also here to assist with any documentation you may need, such as medical certificates and receipts.
